Department of Computer Engineering

History

The computer Engineering department was establised in the year 2001. The department offers three year full time Diploma programme in Computer Engineering with an intake of 30 students. The aim of this branch is to build quality software and hardware Technicians.

The department is well established to meet the current requirements in the field of information technology.

The department has two lecture halls Four computer centers.The Computer Centers are fully air- conditioned. The department has excellent laboratory facilities with latest equipments for the conduct of practical classes.

Vision

The department of Computer Engineering encourages rural students to actively learn, participate and demonstrate the capabilities learnt on fundamental and applied concepts in computer science, thereby providing socio-economic impact for global growth and enhanced quality of life for the mankind.

Mission

To establish closer and symbiotic relationship with IT industries and expose the rural students to the cutting edge of technological advancements.

To provide Impetus and importance beyond curriculum learning and thereby provide an opportunity for the rural student community to keep them updated with latest and socially relevant technologies.

Lab Facilities

In our Computer department there is a separate computer Lab. It has latest system and Update facilities.All the computers in the campus are connected with the optical Fiber cable network to provide intranet facility.

Our network consists of Acer altos high end server with Intel Xeon processor with Focus ERP software and 100 nos of system.

Peripherals included in our intranet network are printers including colour printer, laser printers and dot matrix printers, scanners, CD writers, Combo Drives, head phones, web cameras, TV tuner cards, Digital Cameras,pen drive and D.T.H. connection.

We also have OHP and LCD projectors . Tutor CD’s on various subjects are taught through Multimedia Projectors.

Activities

We conduct ” Soft glow ” a Technical association meet every year in our department. We bring Technical persons from reputed Industries to deliver Valuable lectures on the latest trends in IT. Our students are motivated to present papers, exhibit their Projects and attend Technical Quiz in ” Softglow “.We take our students on Industrial Visit to Pondicherry, Banglore & Chennai to visit the various PC manufacturing units and Software development centers.

Long Term Goal

software industries and public IT sector.

Short Term Goals

• • • • To educate students with the practical exposure so as to obtain sufficient depth of knowledge.
      • To improve the admission strategy, create an environment for networking the alumnus of dept of computer engineering to support the admission strategy.
      • Increase enrollment.

Placement

Our students are placed in various companies such as B.K Systems, HCL Technologies, TVS Electronics,Ramtech marketing etc. through campus interview organized by the placement cell.

Lab Facilities

Adequate Computer and Internet facility

Around 150 Computers are here for the Students use .Internet Connectivity with cyber roam firewall security and using BSNL 2Mbps 7 line . Internet Connectivity to all HOD and staff rooms. Internet Browsing facility is arranged with all systems for the students of all branches in the Computer lab , Computer centres and Library.
